12th annual Bo Bikes Bama Charity Ride in Auburn BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) – Auburn football legend Bo Jackson will return to that community next month to hold his 13th Bo Bikes Bama charity bike ride on April 27, 2024, the 13th anniversary of the awful day that led to his effort.
Since 2012, Jackson has led a bike ride every April which has raised nearly $2.5 million for the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund. The fund has used that money to repair more than 6,000 homes for families that had no other means to repair them. The fund has also built 75 community safe rooms around Alabama.
The ride commemorates the day that a string of powerful tornadoes tore through the state killing more than 260 people.
The fees for this year’s ride in Auburn are $100 for a 60-mile ride and $75 for a 20-mile ride. A $55 at-home option is also available for people who cannot travel to Auburn. At-home participants can choose to bike or participate in any activity of their choosing to show support.
