Tomorrow, the 23-year-old Luxembourger will kick off her classics season at Omloop het Nieuwsblad. Nina can’t wait to throw herself into a chaotic peloton and fly over the Flemish cobblestones. She has tuned her Cannondale LAB71 SuperSix EVO for the Belgian races.
“It is the perfect bike for the classics because it’s a mix of being aero but still light enough to go over the climbs,” Nina says. “It floats over the cobbles, but still it has great stiffness for the sprints and the short accelerations. It’s just a nice agile bike for these races and all the corners. You really feel it accelerate. It’s good for the high speed.”
Nina will race 30mm Vittoria Corsa Pro tubeless tires with Air-Liners mounted to her Vision Metron 45 SL wheels at the Omloop. She’ll run 3.5 bar in the front and 3.7 in the rear.
“The Air-Liner is really nice in these kinds of races,” Nina says. “They add some safety if you get a puncture, so you can keep going until you can change the wheel. Also, the feeling with the Air-Liner is much softer and smoother on the road. It just gives you some extra grip. Otherwise, we just run lower pressure in the classics with tires that are a bit wider. We already have a perfect setup for all kinds of racing and you don’t really want to switch it around.”
