The bicycle industry reports a shortage in some bikes and in repair parts.
The pandemic sparked an increase in cycling for many like Meghan Suda and her two girls.
"We wanted to get out more with our kids and have them riding," Suda said, "so my husband and I both got bikes and we really just got into mountain biking more and just riding with our kids."
That demand across the U.S. has sparked supply issues with new bikes and parts.
"The average bike is backordered I mean it is definitely months," Cahaba Cycles service advisor Mike Flowers said.
Flowers says that backorder has increased the demand for repairing old bikes."We’ve seen every used bike there is coming out of the basements and attics and garages," he said.Parts to fix those are in short supply as well."Right now we are dealing with a shortage on parts but we kinda had a good clue last year what were parts were gonna need so we had been stocking up and were a lot better off in that department," Flowers said.
