Despite the diagnosis, Verdonschot has decided to compete in the Belgian cyclocross Championship next Saturday, riding for her fans and her team. Van den Bergh acknowledged the emotional weight of the situation, saying, “Laura will still ride the Belgian Championship for her fans and for the team. We are all relieved that we know what is wrong, but for Laura this is very hard.”
When asked about her chances at the championship, Van den Bergh admitted the uphill battle Verdonschot faces. “Is winning the Belgian Championship out of the question?
