CORPUS CHRISTI, TX ― On Saturday, September 21, cyclists from across the state will ride in this year’s Conquer the Coast Bike event. This will be the last year the event route will take riders across the current Harbor Bridge.
The City of Corpus Christi encourages all motorists traveling along the event route to be mindful of various lane changes and be courteous to participating cyclists.
The event will start at 7:00 a.m. at Whataburger Field, located at 734 E. Port Avenue. Participants are advised to be aware of other events also taking place in the area on Saturday.
They include: POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony, hosted by the Mayor’s Committee on Veteran Affairs, will be held at Sherrill Veterans Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m.
The Veterans Pow-Wow, presented by the Lipan-Apache Tribe of Texas, will be held at the American Bank Center from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Admission is free.
Cyclists will have three routes to choose from. Those participating in the 66-mile route will ride eastbound on Port Avenue, then southbound along Mesquite Street, then down Power Street, onto the Harbor Bridge to Portland, Ingleside, Port Aransas, Padre Island, to Waldron Road through the Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi, Ocean Drive and back to the finish line at Whataburger Field.Cyclists in the 10- and 21-mile routes will ride eastbound on Port Avenue, southbound on Mesquite Street, eastbound […]
