The top 3 riders on GC, Thomas, Roglic and Joao Almeida were timed within four seconds at the first time check at the end of the flat section. The Slovenian made the difference on the steepest sections despite a chain drop. The top 5 of stage 20 is the same as the general classification with Damiano Caruso settling for fourth and Thibaut Pinot climbing to fifth overall as well as being crowned the King of the Mountains of the Corsa Rosa.
